kingklip congrio colorado recipes???

I was adventurous at the fish mongers today and picked up a portion of kingklip congrio colorado. When I got home I googled it and found out it was like Conger eel or australian rockling!!!!!!!!
Totally freaks me out now !! Please I need a recipe for this!! Almost looks like a ling!! I plan to marinate it and bake it with lots of wine in my glass . Destiny add this to your list of things you'll never eat!!! Nelson Mandela called it a gourmet delicacy. Larry calls it amongst the weirdest things I will ever cook !!!

I called my mother who is 83 years old and she gave me this recipe off the top of her head!! Place filet in baking dish, add some olive oil to both side, sprinkle with salt, lemon zest, diced shallots, parsley and rosemary. Cover with some tomato sauce and pour white wine in dish surrounding fish. Bake @ 375 for 30 minutes. Amazing is she has trouble remembering names but immediately had a recipe for me. I am truly fortunate

My suggestion would be to bake it swiftly at high heat whilst making a sauce of butter, lemon, capers, garlic, onion, white wine (for your glass, too), fresh parsley and a bit of cream. Pour sauce over top fish just before serving.

It's a damned ugly thing for sure...but mild and solid as seafood goes.

Gyjlizer, hmmm different recipe but we don't use butter, olive oil instead, works great! But the fact that Larry's mom remembered such a recipe was phenomenal!

Oh and I do remember this fish from my childhood but we called it: 'Abadèche du Cap' and if my memory serves me right it was baked (adding wine and herbs) and mom's spices plus served with risotto, green beans, carrots and a lovely green salad. It's considered a South African dish, I believe.

Nasty lookin' devil. If I were anything other than a regular member, I'd post a photo of some ling cod I caught last summer for comparison. Ling cod is some of the finest tasting fish ever, but it too is UGLY!! Good luck with that recipe. If the flesh tastes anything like ling cod, it should be good.

Ugh, yuck, you'd have to serve it to me incognito! However, the blessing is that it will be cooked, not raw! Your mother's recipe sounds like that which I used on white fish when I had me entire family at home.

KingKlip is very popular in South Africa. Its absolutely delicious. Was a favorite of mine when I lived there.

Its time to start reading the Bible, It will scare the Hell out of you...
